Angie Barton

For Angie Barton there is no greater pleasure in life, than the joy of travel. “It is my greatest source of inspiration” she says. “The colours, religions, traditions – it all holds so much richness and endless beauty.” The Byron Bay-based makeup artist has spent much of her career on the road, travelling internationally shooting brand campaigns and editorial publications including Harper’s Bazaar, Vogue, Glamour and GQ. Renowned for her exquisitely natural beauty looks, Angie’s effortless, bohemian style has translated seamlessly to campaigns for Country Road, Zara, Veuve Clicquot, Jets, David Jones and Myer.

My personal brand is… raw beauty.

My signature aesthetic is… to bring the natural beauty out and adding the creative. I love to keep the rawness in all my work.

My energy on set is… on shoots I like to bring an open comfortable energy – a space where the model feels happy to be as open as possible. It has to be fun.

I’ve worked with high-profile names including… Cate Blanchett, Miranda Kerr, Hugh Jackman, Cody Simpson and Kylie Minogue

My favourite piece of work so far is… I love all my shoots from extremely raw to high-end clean. The more creative the better!

My career highlight to date has been… living in New York for 8 years. I worked with so many incredible photographers, designers, stylists and models.

My favourite location to shoot is… St Barts – beautiful beaches, gorgeous culture and amazing sand for swim shoots.

The item in my kit that consistently saves the day on a shoot is… Armani foundation.

My favourite part of the job is…  I get to create beautiful things and work with very fun people.

If I could shoot anyone it would be… my shoot dream is to get all the originals back together: Kate Moss, Claudia and Naomi.

If I wasn’t a hair and makeup artist, I’d be… a painter.
